Everyone Loves Some White Chocalate

Out of nowhere Orlando went out and signed Jason Williams. This even surprised us, but this could turn out to be a very, very good move. I love Anthony's Johnson attitude, leadership, and guidance he brings to the team and I feel Magic fans should really appreciate what he does more, but even Johnson fans will admit they would not be fine with AJ handling most of the minutes if Nelson happened to go down again.

Jason Williams has proved he can be a solid starter, and played valuable minutes at PG for the Miami Heat in 2006 when they won the NBA championship. J-Will, White Chocalate.... whatever you call him, definitely improves this team. The only question is how much?

With him aging and not playing in the NBA last season, he will not be the same as in his prime and might take awhile to get back into sync. I will promise you though that Jason Williams will have a positive effect.

Marcin Gortat Only Has a Minor Injury

I'm guessing most of you have heard that Marcin has suffered an injury in the lower back area, but it has been confirmed that Gortat only a muscle strain (which should go away in a few days).

Marcin hurt his back on Friday night while playing in a tournament for Polish's national team. Gortat did not participate in the game Saturday or today. Gortat will be held out for the next week, but will return for EuroBasket 2009 Tournament in September.

Best Moments of The Offseason: #8

.Dwight to be in a Movie.

We keep on saying, "I know what you're gonna say...." To open up all of these things, and we could do the same thing with number eight. Because why the hell should Dwight being in a movie matter to us? LeBron's not in a movie, Kobe's not in a movie, and Wade's not in a movie. It is good to have the advertisement for the team and for Dwight Howard alone. It can only help get the word out right?
Plus is there any Magic fan who wouldn't go see Valentines Day? Guys with a girlfriend take notes. If your girl is in the mood for a girlier type of movie here's a reasonable choise.

Best Moments of The Offseason - #9

.Ryan Anderson Lights Up Summer League.

I know, I know it's summer league. But after giving up bright youngin' Courtney Lee, gaining another talented prospect while adding VC is big for Orlando. Anderson was lights out on offense throughout the whole summer league, and also showed offensive rebounding, hustle, and solid defense in the week.

His Averages For The Week:

21.4 PPG, 9.4 PPG, 1.0 BPG, 1.0 SPG

With the addition of Barnes and Shard getting time at three the loss of Lee will be disguised. Especially when a star in Carter is added and Anderson who can replace Lewis when he is on the bench (which the Magic had no answer for last season).

Best Moments of The Offseason - #10

.The Return of AJ.

Now I know that you're thinking..... "Anthony Johnson? Are you joking?" But with the departure of of Battie a veteran prescence is need, plus the Magic haven't even signed one PG yet this offseason..... imagine if AJ was gone and another newcomer would have to be added.

Johnson gives leadership on the bench or on the floor, and knows his role..... so it's nice that he wanted to stay around. Also, look at the picture above; if you don't agree with this post there is one thing you and I can both agree with: DAMN!

Rashard Lewis..... Roid Boy?

Yesterday Rashard Lewis received a 10 game suspension for failing test. Apparently, near the end of the season Lewis purchased an over the counter substance which apparently contained steroids. Lewis said he wasn't aware of that, and though we are disappointed of his actions, I believe Shard.

For one: why would he buy steroids? He is not a power player. Also, he did not try to post up people more then regular in the playoffs. And why would he buy it over the counter? He's a 18 million dollar man! Not even getting into how a great of a person he is.

With all the issues in sports lately you can't believe anyone 100%, but I think Rashard is being truthful.

Fan Mail Question: One + Updates

"hey im a long time magic fan and i was wondering do you think the magic are going to trade gortatand for who???" -David

David, I'm one of those Magic fans that thinks Otis did not just bring Gortat back to trade him in December. Gortat will be experimented at PF. Having two seven footers who are: big, physical, athletic, good finishers, great rebounders/defenders, with potential is a deadly thing and will not be broken up to save money..... especially if Gortat and Howard learn how to play on offense together.

But despite Orlando's great depth they still have one worry.... a capable replacement if Jameer's health becomes an issue. If this happens this is when Gortat becomes a trading piece. I think likely destinations include: Portland, Chicago, Dallas, and Indiana.

Portland: Out of the four teams I named the Blazers are the only one who couldn't use a center. But with Oden's injury history and their stockpile on PG's it could work. Andre Miller won't be going anywhere, but Steve Blake could. Blake is a veteran who hits the three. And with Bayless as a third stringer they can afford to move Blake.

Chicago: Chicago makes the most sense. The Bulls have been looking for a big man forever, and ever since Rose has been drafted they have been looking to move Hinrich. Noah moves to his natural position, PF and now they can afford to move Tyrus Thomas. Win-Win.

Dallas: This probably makes the least sense for Orlando, but we all know Dallas would be interested. I'd want JET in return, but JJ and a bunch of other pieces could work.

Indiana: They want to get rid of TJ Ford's contract, they need some toughness, and they plan on drafting a PG anyways. Earl Watson could be another option.

Some Things You Guys Might Be Interested In

  • Marcin Gortat no longer recieves free Reeboks. Why?...... well Reebok requested that Gortat to cover the Air Jordan tatoo on his calf. Marcin Gortat denied the request. "I've been wearing it 4-5 years now, and it helped me get to the NBA," he told Fanhouse.com. "They didn't say anything about it when I signed the contract, so it's not going anywhere. I don't think they are paying me enough to take it off.'' Reebok was never paying Gortat though, just hooking him up with free gear. Who knows.... maybe he will get free Air Jordan gear now? Whatever, won't matter with his big, new contract.

  • Lamar Odom should be making a descision between the Heat and Lakers very soon. I hope it's Miami. I think Miami may be a bit of dark horse with the signing, but still not part of the big three contenders in the conferense. Plus it would leave LA with one of the weakest benches of all playoff teams, and in my opinion giving Orlando an edge over them.

  • There's a rumor of an Okafor for Chandler swap going on between the Bobcats and Hornets...... atleast one team in our division got easier.

08-09 vs 09-10 Series: SG Edition

The addition of Vince Carter makes this clear, this season's the SG's are better then last year's. Orlando's best SG from 08-9 returns (Mickael Pietrus), and though promising guard Courtney Lee is gone, adding an all star/go to guy in VC make it clear this poition is improved. The defense might be down a little, but the offense is improved by a good margin. I know, I didn't mention JJ Redick, but it seems like the wings are too clogged up for him to recieve playing time. His days in Orlando may be numbered.
